Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Without doubt, there is an Angel of Almighty Allah whom Allah has given power to listen to the voices of all the people. Whenever any person reads the Durood Shareef, this Angel delivers the Durood Shareef to me. I then plead to Almighty Allah for the person to receive ten blessings for reading a single Durood Shareef”. (Jami’us Sagheer)

How should one recite the Durood Shareef? What should be the persons condition and the conditions of his environment? The following points should be taken into account when reciting Durood Shareef:-

1. It should be read with utmost humility and respect.

2. The clothes of the reciter should be clean and free from all impurity.

3. The place where the Durood Shareef is to be read should be clean.

4. It is more superior to be in a state of Wudhu while reciting the Durood Shareef.

5. It is better to sit in the Tashahudd position as you would sit when in Salaah and recite the Durood Shareef with concentration and the respect due to it.

6. It is preferable to face Madinatul Munawwarah.

7. If possible, one should have sweet fragrance around the place.

8. The reciter should try and understand the meaning of the Durood Shareef.

9. One should possess a clean and untainted intention. One should read with the sole intention of pleasing Almighty Allah and Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).

10. The person should not be involved in worldly talks.

11. A person should try his level best to follow the example or Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).

12. When reading Durood Shareef, you should try and imagine that you are sitting in the august presence of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Utmost respect and reverence should be displayed.

13. Whenever one hears or recites the Durood Shareef, it should be read and written in full. It is also preferable to kiss one’s thumb and rub them over one’s eyes when hearing the name of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).

14. When the reading of the Durood Shareef is completed one should praise Allah Ta’ala that he has given you the opportunity of reading such a great Zikr as the Durood Shareef.

15. Whenever one takes the name of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), one should use titles of respect and reverence.

16. As an advantage one should count on one’s fingers as Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) often encouraged this practice because on the Day of Qiyamah those same fingers will bear witness at the time when they are questioned.

17. Recite Durood Shareef wherever you are (not in the bathroom or toilet) and during any occasion.

[21.Surah Al-Anbiyaa]

Dua of Hazrat Ayub (Alaihi Salaam)

Ayahs 83-84:
“And Ayub, when he cried to his Lord, (saying): Harm has afflicted me, and Thou art the most Merciful of the merciful.”

“Therefore We responded to him and took off what harm he had, and We gave him his family and the like of them with them: a mercy from Us and a reminder to the worshippers.”

Dua of Hazrat Yunus (Alaihi Salaam)

Ayahs 87-88:
“And Yunus, when he went away in wrath, so he thought that We would not straiten him, so he called out among afflictions: There is no god but Thou, glory be to Thee; surely I am of those who make themselves to suffer loss.”

“So We responded to him and delivered him from the grief and thus do We deliver the believers.”

Dua of Hazrat Zakariya (Alaihi Salaam)

Ayahs 89-90:
“And Zakariya, when he cried to his Lord: O my Lord leave me not alone; and Thou art the best of inheritors.”

“So We responded to him and gave him Yahya and made his wife fit for him; surely they used to hasten, one with another In deeds of goodness and to call upon Us, hoping and fearing and they were humble before Us.”

Assalamu ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Duaa is the weapon of a believer.
It will protect you from the evils of enemies.

Dua is the shield of a believer.
It will increase your sustenance.

Dua is more forceful than a sword.
Dua replaces what has been destined
and also creates that what has not been destined.

Dua is a form of ibaadat.
Dua removes both the present suffering and that which will come down
later.
Dua and sufferings challenge each other until the Day of Judgment,
and Dua comes out victorious.
Dua is so powerful that Dua has the power to create and alter fate!!

Ask Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala for what you need so that He will give it to you.
If you keep on knocking the door of Divine Mercy,
sooner or later it will be opened for you.

Never get tired of Dua,
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala has attached much value to it.
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’alasays
“Let My servants know that I have the power to grant My servants’
wishes.”

A believer who makes Dua receives one of three things:
1. Either he will quickly have his Dua answered,
2. or he will get in the Hereafter,
3. or something bad will be prevented from him equal to the value of
his
Dua.

Everything has a proper discipline to it, and so does Dua.
Duas may not be answered when requirements of Dua have not been
fulfilled.

Praise Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’alaAlmighty.
Remember Him and thank Him for His blessings.
Send greetings to the Holy Prophet Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam.
Pray your Salaat regularly.
Recite Qur’an regularly. Seek Tauba. Attain Taqwa.
That is the right way for Dua.

It may be that you dislike a thing while it is good for you,
and it may be that you love a thing while it is evil for you.
At such times, refer to He who knows the best, and that is Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’alaknows, while we do not know.
So we must make Dua to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, then be patient,
have faith in His unquestionable decision
and trust His absolute wisdom.

Sometimes Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala delays answering the Dua
to give a greater reward and a further blessing.

Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s delay is not Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s denial.
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s timing is perfect.
What we need is Patience and trust.
It is impossible to sum up everything about Dua in this brief note.
To summarize the whole concept of Dua into one single statement :

Dua is a form of Ibaadat,
such a powerful Ibaadat that it can create and alter Qismat,
and that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala is generous
and if His servant raises his hands towards Him,
He feels reluctant not to accept it.

Assalamu ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Wise advice offered by the Helper

[al-Ghawth], our master
Sheikh ‘Abd al-Qādir Rahmatullahi ‘alayh(sanctified be his innermost being),
to his son, Hazrat ‘Abd ar-Razzāq Rahmatullahi ‘alayh

The reader should know that our venerable master and our revered Shaikh , the venerable Shaikh ‘Abd ar-Razzaq (may Allah the Exalted sanctify his innermost being) asked his father for advice, and that the venerable Helper [al-Ghawth] (sanctified be his innermost being) responding by saying:

“O my son, may Allāh (Exalted is He) bestow His enabling grace upon us, and upon you and all the Muslims. Āmīn.

“This you must know and understand: I am advising you to practice true devotion [taqwā] to Allāh Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, and obedience to Him, and adherence to the Sacred Law [Shar’ ], and careful observance of the limits [hudūd] set by Him.

“O my son, may Allāh (Exalted is He) bestow His enabling grace upon us, and upon you and all the Muslims. You must also know that this Spiritual Path [Tarīqa] of ours is founded upon the Book and the Sunna, and integrity of [the feelings within] the breasts, the generosity of the hand, the giving of liberal donation, abstinence from crudity, endurance of injury, and readiness to pardon the mistakes of our spiritual brethren [ikhwān].

“I am also advising you, O my son, to make a practice of spiritual poverty [faqr], which means preserving the ordinances of the Shaikhs, maintaining good relations with spiritual brethren, giving sincere counsel to juniors and seniors alike, and refraining from argument, except where matters of religion are at stake.

“O my son, may Allāh (Exalted is He) bestow His enabling grace upon us, and upon you. You must also know that the true significance of spiritual poverty [faqr] is that you are not in need of anyone like yourself, while the true significance of spiritual affluence [ghinā] is that you are independent of anyone like yourself. As for spiritual culture [tasawwuf], it is a state that does not belong to anyone who indulges in idle talk and gossip. When you have an opinion to offer, you should not begin by expressing it in terms of knowledgeability. You should rather present it initially as an expression of sympathetic friendliness. This is because knowledgeability tends to alienate the listener, whereas friendliness makes him feel comfortably at ease.

“O my son, may Allāh (Exalted is He) bestow His enabling grace upon us, and upon you and all the Muslims. You must also know that spiritual culture [tasawwuf] is built on eight fundamental qualities, namely:

1. Liberal generosity [sakhā’]
2. Contentment [ridā’]
3. Patience [sabr]
4. Symbolic instruction [ishāra]
5. Living away from home [ghurba]
6. The wearing of wool [sūf]
7. Wandering travel [siyāha]
8. Spiritual poverty [faqr]

* Liberal generosity [sakhā’] is the special virtue of Allāh Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s Prophet
Abraham [Ibrāhīm] alayhis ‘salam.
* Contentment [ridā’] is the special virtue of Allāh Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s Prophet Isaac
[Ishāq] alayhis ‘salam.
* Patience [sabr] is the special virtue of Allāh Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s Prophet Job [Ayyūb] alayhis ‘salam
.
* Symbolic instruction [ishāra] is the special talent of Allāh Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s Prophet
Zachariah [Zakariyyā] alayhis ‘salam.
* Life in exile [ghurba] is the special characteristic of Allāh Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s Prophet
Joseph [Yūsuf] alayhis ‘salam.
* The wearing of wool [sūf] is the special property of Allāh Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s Prophet
John the Baptist [Yahyā] alayhis ‘salam.
* Wandering travel [siyāha] is the special feature of Allāh Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s Prophet
Jesus [‘Īsā] alayhis ‘salam.
* Spiritual poverty[faqr] is the special characteristic of Allāh Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s Prophet
and Messenger, our dear friend, our chieftain and our intercessor [shafī’] the owner of vast respect, Muhammad the Chosen [al-Mustafā] Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam(may Allāh bless him and give him peace, and may He ennoble, honor, glorify and exalt him).

“You must also regard it as your duty, O my son, to maintain a dignified detachment in the company of the rich, and an attitude of humble self-effacement in the company of the poor. You must practice sincere devotion [ikhlās], which means forgetting about the impression you may be making on your fellow creatures [khalq], and paying constant attention to the view of the Creator [Khāliq].

“You must not entertain suspicious doubts about Allāh Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, where the material means (asbāb) are concerned. You must rely on him with confidence in all circumstances and conditions. You must not entrust your needs to anyone else, on the basis of some connection between you and him, such as kinship, affection and friendship.

“It is incumbent upon you to provide the spiritual paupers with three forms of service. The first of these is modest humility. The second is good moral conduct. The third is a complete lack of selfishness. You must put your lower self [nafs] to death, so that you may come to life. The nearest of all creatures [khalq] to Allāh (Exalted is He) is the one who is richest in good character [khuluq], and the most meritorious of all deeds is the preservation of the innermost being [sirr] from paying attention to anything apart from Allāh Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

“It is also incumbent upon you, when you are together with the spiritual paupers [fuqarā’], to engage in the mutual counseling of patience [sabr] and the mutual counseling of truth [haqq]. As far as this world is concerned, two things should be enough for you: the fellowship of a spiritual pauper [faqīr] and the respect of a saint [walī].

“You must also know, O my son, that the spiritual pauper [faqīr] has absolutely no need of anything apart from Allāh (Exalted is He).

“You must also know, O my son, that aggressive behavior toward someone below you is actually a form of weakness, while such behavior toward someone superior to you is a form of boastful pride. Spiritual poverty [faqr] and spiritual culture [tasawwuf] are two very serious matters, so you must not mix them with any kind of frivolity.

“This is my advice to you, and to anyone else among the seekers [murīdīn] who is capable of heeding it. May Allāh (Exalted is He) cause them to multiply, and may He enable you, and us, to succeed in fulfilling all that we have mentioned and explained. May He include us among those who follow in the footsteps of the righteous forebears [salaf], and who follow in their footsteps in honor of our master, our Prophet and our intercessor [shafī’] Muhammad Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam. May Allāh bless him, his family and his Companions, and may He grant them abundant peace, until the Day of Judgment [Yawm ad-Dīn]. Praise be to Allāh Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, Lord of All the Worlds.”

Assalamu ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Five Phrases…We Should Practice …

Thebest manner to avoid having negative attitudes and emotions control our bodies is simply to practice the wisdoms that we have been given throughout the Qur’an and Hadith. We should say,

1 “Alhamdullilah” It produces calm and health to practice saying, “Alhamdulillah” for what we have .

2 “Insha’Allah” for what we intend

3 “Subhana’ Allah”when we see something exciting or amazing

4 Astaghfir’Allah” when we lose our tempers or become weak.

and most importantly
5 “Allahu Akbar” when we are faced with the challenges of life.

These five phrases, said regularly, are like taking a multi-vitamin for holistic health.

There is much wisdom in the Prophet Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam‘s statement (narrated by
Abu Huraira Radi Allahu anhu ), “The strong [person] is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong [person] is the one who controls himself while in anger.”
In fact, staying patient and calm is key to physical strength.

Wa’alaykum ‘Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Punishments seen on the night of Meraj

On the Night of Ascension (Mairaj), Our Holy Prophet Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam saw the punishments being given to some women.

1- One woman was eating her own flesh and there was fire burning under
her. (she used to dress up and apply make up in order to attract
attention of males and she used to speak bad about people behind their
backs).

2- One woman was seen having her body being cut by a scissor made out
of fire. ( this was the punishment for showing her body and private
parts to other men.)

Seriously, now a days it seems that amongst our Islamic sisters
unveiling is becoming a very common practice and it seems that the concept of
unveiling is not considered a sin anymore. In The Holy Quran a lot of emphasis is
put on the concept of veiling. it is said inthe holy Quran:

” And remain stationed in your houses and be not unveiling of the former
days of ignorance.” AL-Ahzab Verse 33

May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala give the Muslims the proper love of practicing the custom of
veiling. Amin

Assalamu ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Hazrat Jabir ibn Abdullah Radi Allahu anhu narrates,

“When the Trench (battle of Trench) was dug, I saw Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wa Sallam) in the state of severe hunger. So I returned to my wife and said, “Have you got anything (to eat), for I have seen Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s Apostle (Sallallahu alayhi wa Sallam) in a state of severe hunger.” She brought out for me, a bag containing one Saa (a measurement) of barley, and we had a domestic she animal (i.e. a kid) which I slaughtered then, and my wife ground the barley and finished around the time I finished my job (i.e. slaughtering the kid).

Then I cut the meat into pieces and put it in an earthenware (cooking) pot, and returned to Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). My wife said, “Do not disgrace me in front of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and those who are with him.” So I went to him and said to him secretly, “O Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s Apostle Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam! I have slaughtered a she-animal (i.e. kid) of ours, and we have ground a Saa of barley, which was with us. So please come, you and another person along with you.” Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) raising his voice announced, “O people of Trench! Jabir has prepared a meal so let us go.” Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said to me, “Don’t put down your earthenware meat pot (from the fireplace) or bake your dough till I come.” So I came (to my house) and Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) too, came, proceeding before the people. When I came to my wife, she said, “May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala do so-and-so to you.” I said, “I have told the Prophet Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallamof what you said.” Then she brought out to him (i.e. the Prophet Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam the dough, and he inserted some saliva in it, and invoked for Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s Blessings in it.

Then he proceeded towards our earthenware meat-pot and inserted some saliva in it and invoked for Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala‘s Blessings in it. Then he said (to my wife): “Call a lady-baker to bake along with you and keep on taking out scoops from your earthenware meat-pot, and do not put it down from its fireplace.” They were one thousand (who took their meals), and by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala they all ate, and when they left , our earthenware pot was still bubbling (full of meat) as if it had not decreased, and our dough was still being baked as if nothing had been taken from it. [Sahih Bukhari – Chapter on Ghazawaat – Battles]
